General Appointment
Information:
REMINDER TEXT - you’ll receive a reminder text two days before your appointment. If you can’t make it, please text back, call, email or message us to let us know asap as we can then offer your time to someone else.
RUNNING LATE - If you’re running late, please call and let us know as soon as you can. We will do our best to let you know if we are running late too. If you’re too late your full service may not be able to be completed, and in certain circumstances you may still be asked to pay for the full appointment
CANCELLATION POLICY - pleeeeease let us know if you can’t make it anymore. We’re a small business and no shows really hurt us. You can check out our cancellation policy HERE
PARKING - Please DON’T park directly outside the salon for longer than 30 minutes as those parks are timed, and we’d hate for you to get a ticket! We’d also like to respect the nature of our neighbours businesses and keep parking free for them :) Rumgay and Porutu Street’s have free, untimed parking and across the road along side the grass does too!
DRINKS - We have a drinks menu at the hair stations, including barista coffee (before 1pm) from the Coffee Cave next door which will be delivered to you in the salon. If you have a beauty appointment just ask your technician.
WIFI - We have it, you should use it! Bring your laptop and WFH in the salon, it’s not rude at all, we love it that you’re multi tasking! Our only request is that you please wear headphones for zoom meetings and calls :)
MAGAZINES - We have a couple but please feel free to bring your phone, ipad or kindle
GUESTS - We ask that where possible you come alone to your appointment - we do have lots of space now, but we prefer to be able to focus solely on you and your service, and when you bring others we find this harder to do. We need you to keep still, and we often need all of our chairs. There are absolutely no guests allowed in the treatment room during cosmetic tattooing, with no exceptions
SILENT APPOINTMENTS - Want us to keep the chat to an absolute minimum? Just let us know and we’ll be more than happy to oblige!
Don’t feel like you need to make conversation either way, feel free to bring a book, laptop or scroll away! If you feel awkward asking with your mouth: when booking online, add it to the “add a message” section or send us a message in advance via email or social media!
Tips to get the most from your hair appointment:
CLEAN DRY HAIR - forget what you’ve heard about dirty hair taking colour better, it’s a lie, clean hair is the best! Washing your hair the day before your hair appointment is the sweet spot so that your scalp has time to settle after being shampoo’d but your hair isn’t yet oily. Dirty hair is harder to foil, is more likely to stay brassy when lightening or have greys not cover properly. Dry hair is also important as water can dilute the colour and lightener.
For dry cuts, we’ll need you to have washed your hair in the last 24 hours.
If you’re booked for a wash, cut and blowdry, dirty is totally fine, but bear in mind if it’s so gross you don’t want to touch it then we probably don’t want to either..
CHEMICAL REACTIONS - the chemicals in our colour and lighteners can react with certain ingredients in non professional shampoos and conditioners. When this happens it can be really bad, resulting in extreme damage and breakage. If you’re using pantene, dove, tresemme, monat or monday we recommend you do a deep cleansing shampoo before your appointment, followed with a good quality conditioner. If you would like some information on how to do this, or what to use, flick us a message and we’d be happy to give you all the info you need! We also recommend a patch test 24 hours before your colour appointment.
CLOTHING - please be mindful of the clothing you wear to your appointment. High necks and tops with hoods can be hard to protect adequately and also get in the way meaning an uneven cutting surface which can mean an uneven haircut - we also ask that you don’t wear your favourite irreplaceable designer clothing as while we do our best to protect your clothing at all times, even a little drop of colour or lightener could damage them.
TIMING - as we allocate a set amount of time when booking services, if you’re planning a change, please let us know in advance so we can make sure your appointment is booked correctly! If you’re dark wanting to go light, light wanting to go dark, or light or dark wanting to go copper, it’s very likely we’ll need some extra time :)
GUESTS - if you bring children or friends, it almost always makes your appointment take longer which in turn may cost you more. Coming alone also means we can give you our full attention!
DIRECTION - while we don’t need you to know everything (that’s our job!), a general direction is always helpful - do you want it lighter, darker, cooler, warmer, shorter? If you’re not sure bringing a couple of pictures with you is a great place to start.
ADVICE - while we absolutely want to make your dreams come true, there are limits to what can be achieved in one appointment. Please listen carefully to our advice, we don’t say no because we’re mean, it’s to help make sure you aren’t disappointed at the end!
