Salem + Co is on the lookout for a friendly, reliable Salon Assistant to help keep the salon running smoothly.
Whether you’re currently studying hairdressing or simply interested in the industry, this role is a great way to get hands on experience in a professional salon environment! And for the right person, it could even lead to an apprenticeship.
This is a paid role with full training provided. You’ll be part of a supportive, fast-paced team where no two days are the same.

What we need from you:
You’ll need a great attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine interest in the hair industry. You must be reliable and willing to jump in wherever needed - this role includes lots of cleaning, tidying, and organising, as well as welcoming clients, offering refreshments, and helping stylists with things like blowdrying, shampooing and other tasks.
We’re looking for someone to start mid-August, with approximately 20 hours per week available. Our assistant shifts currently run between 1pm and 8pm on late nights (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with daytime hours on Fridays and every second Saturday.
While exact days and start times can be flexible, to be considered, you’ll need to be available for at least two late nights (starting by 4pm, 5pm at the latest) and every second Saturday from 8am-3pm.
In December, we’ll need you to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with extra availability required right up until the 23rd, as it’s our busiest time of year. After that, the salon closes for two weeks so everyone can enjoy a proper break!
